You can create up to five timers

Ingredients

  • 1/2 can evaporated milk
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup quick cooking oats
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 cups Neelys BBQ sauce, recipe follows

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients except BBQ sauce. Mix well with hands. Shape mixture into the size of walnuts and place in a single layer in a 13 by 9-inch pan. Pour Neelys BBQ sauce over meatballs and bake for 45 minutes. Remove and serve with toothpicks as an appetizer.

Neelys BBQ Sauce:

  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 5 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 5 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon fresh ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon ground mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients and mix well. Bring mixture to a boil, reduce heat to simmer. Cooked uncovered, stirring frequently every 15 minutes, for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Yield: 3 1/2 cups

    The meatballs themselves were great. The sauce tastes overwhelmingly of vinegar.

    I have made these meatballs for about 5 different occasions and every time they are the first food item to go and I get many requests for the recipe. The are great for parties!
