muddle several leaves of fresh mint with 1/2 oz of simple syrup in a cup. Fill cup with finely crushed ice. Pour in 2 oz of good bourbon. Mound more crushed ice on top. Add a short straw and a big sprig of fresh mint. Or just pour the bourbon into the cup, toss the rest of the ingredients, and enjoy. Either way, don't put cherries or orange slices in your julep.

I'm not even a big bourbon fan, but this is a fantastic drink. I will be making this one a lot this summer!

Hot fun in the Summer time with this ice-chilled refreshing Mint Julep with all the right fixings. An enticing mixture of citrus, whisky, sugar and spice makes everything oh so right!
