Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup extra-large capers, drained and finely chopped
  • 1 small shallot, finely minced
  • Kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper
  • 12 large prawns, about 1 pound, peeled, deveined, tail left on
  • Olive oil, for grilling

Directions

Preheat a stove top grill pan to high heat.

In a small bowl, stir together the yogurt, capers, shallots, and season with salt and pepper, to taste. Let stand to allow flavors to mingle.

Cut a deep slit about 1/2-inch long in the bottom third of the shrimp, without cutting all the way through. This will allow the shrimp to butterfly open at the ends as they cook. Toss the prawns with oil and season well with salt and pepper. Grill the shrimp, turning once, until bright pink and just cooked through, 1 1/2 to 2 minutes per side.

To serve, put a dollop of yogurt sauce on a serving plate; stand the shrimp upright with their tails touching around the yogurt. These are terrific with a small salad, rice, or pasta on the side.

    Scrumptious!!!

This was delicious!!! I used the large 16-20 count shrimp and grilled them on my indoor grill pan. They were perfect! The... Tzatziki sauce was cool and refreshing on the warm shrimp. Wonderful flavors...I will be making this again and again!!! Read more

    Bland Sauce

I was also disappointed in the yogurt sauce. I made it for a party and was dismayed at the grey color of the sauce - not... very aesthetic. The shrimp is okay but there are much better sauces to choose from. The one advantage would be if you are watching your calories.Read more

    Good shrimp, mediocre sauce

Rated: 4 stars out of 5
If the yogurt sauce was truly the worst thing Laura has ever tasted, she has been very fortunate. At first I did not care... for the sauce, but I liked it much better on the shrimp than by itself. My main problem with it was that the shallot was overpowering, and I only used half what the recipe called for. I thought the capers and the yogurt worked really well together, though. If I made this again, I would either decrease the amount of shallot or run it through the food processor--the flavor of the shallot might be less prominent if the sauce was a smooth puree rather than chunky. Also, reading the reviews below made me happy that I'm not the only person who watches Food Network on the treadmill. Read more

The yogurt sauce has a horrible flavor

Rated: 1 stars out of 5
I used my small counter top George Forman grill to cook the shrimp 6 at a time, 2 min. per side (didn't put the top down). I... used 16-20 count sized shrimp. The shrimp turned out great but the yogurt sauce was the worst thing I've ever tasted. And I normally eat greek yogurt (flavored or plain). Would not make this sauce again.Read more

    Perfect

The Tzatziki dip is so flavorful. Instead of prawns I used grilled chicken and it was so good. I would add some pita bread if... you aren't concerned about getting in Skinny Jeans :)Read more
