Store-bought fruit chews are molded into paw pads and anchor almond sliver "claws" in these scary cupcakes. They're the ultimate excuse to play with your food!
Halve 24 mini pink fruit chews and shape into 48 oval paw pads; you will need 4 paw pads per cupcake. Shape each of the remaining 12 mini fruit chews into a heart-shaped paw pad, using a toothpick to shape the scalloped edge.
Spread a thin coat of chocolate frosting on a cupcake. Fill a resealable plastic bag with more frosting and cut a 1/4-inch corner. Pipe four 1/2-inch dots of frosting to create the paw shape. Cover the cupcake with black sanding sugar.
Press a paw pad-shaped fruit chew onto each dot of frosting and insert a slivered almond at the tip of each dot for the claw. Add the larger heart-shaped paw pads underneath the claws, lightly pressing into the frosting.
