The "fur" around these eye-catching cupcakes will really make them stand out on your Halloween treat table. To achieve the effect, be sure to pipe on small dots of frosting before pulling your decorating tip away from the cupcake in the same direction.

Ingredients

Directions

Special equipment:
one #3 pipping tip
  1. Spread a thin coat of vanilla frosting on a cupcake. Use a toothpick to mark the eye shape (about 1 1/4 inches wide and 3 inches long).
  2. Fill a resealable plastic bag with dark chocolate icing (tint with black gel food coloring); snip a 1/8-inch corner or use a #3 tip. Starting along the edge of the cupcake, pipe frosting to look like fur, pulling each dot in the same direction and overlapping the dots while working toward the eye.
  3. Place a green gummy ring in the middle of the white area and add a mini brown candy for the pupil.
