Directions

Put the butter and chocolate into a microwave safe bowl and heat on high for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds to melt the chocolate. Set aside.

In a large bowl sift the flour with the baking powder and salt. Add the egg and chocolate mixtures along with the vanilla and stir well to combine.

Spray an 8 by 8 by-2-inch microwave safe glass pan with cooking spray. Pour the batter into the pan, spread it out evenly, and scatter the chocolate chunks on top. Cook on high for 5 minutes. Remove from the oven and let rest for 3 minutes before cutting and eating.

I found these one night when i had a sweet tooth. they were super easy to prepare. at first my sister was skeptical because of the microwave. we didn't have a 8in. round dish so we used a 9in. round. We live near Denver so generally we change recipes to accomidate for the elevation. we added a little extra flour, a lil extra butter and a lil extra chocolate. We scattered the chocolate chips on top as the receipe directed, but we also dropped caramel pieces and chopped walnuts for a "turtle mirowave brownie" It took about eight minutes on high. At first they started to overflow just a little, so i opened the microwave just a second or two and then closed it and cooked for the remainder of time. opening the door seemed to cool them down just enough to control their rising. they came out way better than i thought they would. we didn't let ours cool but opted to scoop them out with a spoon onto white plates, top with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and a drizzle of chocolate syrup. i would DEFINITELY reccomend thses.

These brownies were surpisingly good! They were so easy to make and the ingredients were so basic I could make these any time because I always have everything on hand.

I made these with Cocoa powder and added the oil needed to equal 3 ozs of unsweetened chocolate. I don't think I will add any additional oil next time. I, too, would like to know the wattage of the test microwave as I had to microwave my brownies for seven minutes for them to bake through. They are SUPER delicious, though! Very good texture. As they cooled they became even more chewy. Best microwave recipe I've tried. I would recommend these. Super easy, too.
