Ingredients

  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 2 cups canned chickpeas, drained, liquid reserved
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1/3 cup tahini (sesame paste)
  • 6 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice (2 lemons)
  • 2 tablespoons water or liquid from the chickpeas
  • 8 dashes hot sauce

Directions

Turn on the food processor fitted with the steel blade and drop the garlic down the feed tube; process until it's minced. Add the rest of the ingredients to the food processor and process until the hummus is coarsely pureed. Taste, for seasoning, and serve chilled or at room temperature.

    Great and easy!

Rated: 4 stars out of 5
This was so easy to make and tasted great, although I CUT THE GARLIC IN HALF (2 cloves instead of 4) after making it the... first time. After that it was perfect for the quantity of beans. I don't think I'll be buying hummus from a store anymore!Read more

    The best hummus!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I just made this, and followed other reviewers suggestions and used less salt, and it was the best hummus I've ever had. I... will never buy this again, can't wait to make it again and add some roasted red peppers to it the next time.Read more

Never buying hummus from the store again!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I decided to attempt homemade hummus after my favorite, but pricey, hummus was discontinued at the grocery store and I am... thrilled to say that this recipe tastes just like my favorite hummus! I might add a little extra virgin olive oil to deepen the flavor a bit and next time add a little more lemon (my favorite hummus "flavor" is lemon), but that's only because I like to play around with recipes, definitely not necessary. I just toasted my pita bread and am ready to enjoy a great lunch!Read more

    Great staple in the fridge

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
We love this recipe. Simple and delicious. The first time I made it, I thought that it was a bit too salt and had a touch... more tahini flavor than I like. I just tweaked it a bit the next time adding slightly less salt and tahini. Sometimes I like more hot sauce, so I put it in. This is an absolute no brainer. Taste it while you are making it and adjust to your taste. You'll never buy store bought hummus again. Read more
