Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 sprig fresh thyme
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Butter
  • 2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/8-inch thick slices
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan, plus more for broiling

Directions

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

In a saucepan, heat up the cream with a sprig of thyme, chopped garlic and nutmeg.

While cream is heating up, butter a casserole dish. Place a layer of potato in an overlapping pattern and season with salt and pepper. Remove cream from heat, then pour a little over the potatoes. Top with some grated Parmesan. Make 2 more layers. Bake, uncovered, for 45 minutes. Sprinkle some more Parmesan and broil until cheese browns, about 5 minutes.

    Nice dish

I added a little more thyme and it was great with my prime rib. I think I'll look at the other reviews and mix it up a... bit. As always, great job Tyler!Read more

    Contradiction

Rated: 4 stars out of 5
Wow - if you read the reciipe and then watch the video they are very different. In the video Tyler uses 5 or 6 sprigs of... thyme (recipe calls for one), video has the dish covered with foil to cook at 400 degrees, recipe says bake uncovered at 375 degrees. In video, potatoes and cream mixed together in a bowl and poured into pan, vs. layering potatoes separately with cream and parmesan. I cooked uncovered and it was a bit dry - wish I had followed my instincts and covered with foil as was done in the video.Read more

I love the recipes but wish that they listed calories, fat, and fiber and portion size...I am on Weight Watcher's and it is... difficult to eat any of the great recipes that are listed because of the lack of information. Thank you.Read more

    THE BEST potato dish ever

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I've made this dish many times and everyone who eats it absolutely LOVES it. I cheat and use the sliced fresh potato's that... you can get at your local market, cuts your time in half. I however use the REAL cheese not the stuff in the green can, it just will not do for this dish. I also use about 3x's as much cheese as the recipe calls for. Great comfort food and it makes the house smell great even hours after it has cooked. This is my favorite Tyler dish! Just know that this is not a lo cal dish!! Even my 6 yr old grandaughter loves this!Read more

    Another wonderful recipe

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
Thanks, Tyler. Made this for the first time for company and it was creamy and delicious. I had to double the recipe for the... number I had and added a little more than double the herbs and seasonings after reading the reviews. It was wonderful and easy.Read more

I made these last year for Christmas and it was so good there was none left for the cook. Double the recipe!
