Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 (16-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • Pinch sugar
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 fresh basil leaves, chopped

Directions

Coat a saucepan with 2 tablespoons of the oil and warm over medium-low heat. Add the garlic and cook, stirring, until soft. Add the crushed tomatoes and sugar; season with salt and pepper. AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
Let me start off by saying I DON"T COOK!!!...but i saw this recipe and decided it was easy enough to try and make for my... father while my mother was out of town(who is the cook)...my father is Puertorican and old fashioned about what he eats...he thought it was amazing and ate about 3 bowls!!!...I doubled the entire recipe, used an extra can of DICED tomatoes, not crushed..and i cheated and added a bag of the ready-made meatballs and added it to the sauce in the beginning so it was done cooking by the time i served it. Next time i will add ANOTHER extra can of DICED tomatoes...its just my preference i like a chunkier sauce...very fresh and full of flavor!!! making again!Read more

This recipe is so simple, and healthy I couldn't wait to try it. My husband hates most spaghetti sauces, and he ate two... plates of this!Read more

This sauce was a big hit and it was so simple! A suggestion: if you are going to make this for more people use half crushed... and half diced tomatoes and the sauce will be nice and chunky!Read more
