Get to know the 16 A-list culinary contenders facing off in host Alton Brown's Cutthroat Kitchen arena.
Heat 1: Aarti Sequeira
Aarti Sequeira bested her fellow competitors on Food Network Star, Season 6 to ultimately shine on her own show, Aarti Party. Born in India, Aarti received a professional cooking certificate from The New School of Cooking in Culver City, Calif., and she now lives in Los Angeles.
Heat 1: Cat Cora
Food Network's first female Iron Chef, Cat Cora is a famed restaurateur, having launched Cat Cora's Que and Cat Cora's Kitchen, among other locales. She launched an iPad app, Cat Cora's Kitchen, in 2012, and she's a collaborator on two women's shoe collections. In 2014 she was one of four mentors on Food Network's America's Best Cook.
Heat 1: Melissa d'Arabian
The winner of Food Network Star, Season 5, Melissa d'Arabian appears on shows on both Food Network and Cooking Channel, and in 2012 she published her first cookbook. She launched two Web-exclusive series on FoodNetwork.com: Picky Eaters Project, which offered tips and strategies for parents, plus a look at how she attempted to curb picky eating in her own children; and Smart Carts: Winning the Supermarket, which offers fans simple strategies for conquering the aisles with ease.
Heat 2: Kelsey Nixon
A graduate of Le Cordon Bleu – Hollywood, Kelsey Nixon is the host of Cooking Channel's Kelsey's Essentials, in which she showcases easy, approachable meals and techniques that kitchen novices and culinary aficionados alike can enjoy. In 2014 she released her premiere cookbook, Kitchen Confidence.
Heat 3: Claire Robinson
The host of Food Network's 5 Ingredient Fix, Claire Robinson graduated from the French Culinary Institute after earning a communications degree from the University of Memphis. She has experience behind the camera as well as in front of it, as she's served on the culinary production teams for several cooking shows.
Heat 3: Duff Goldman
Duff Goldman has been working in the culinary industry since he was a teenager. As a famed baker and the owner of Charm City Cakes, Duff is known for pushing the limits of ordinary confections, creating towering cakes that are at once awe-inspiring and flavorful. He's a judge on Holiday Baking Championship and Spring Baking Championship, a host and judge on Kids Baking Championship, and the host of Duff's Sweet Spot.
Heat 4: Alex Guarnaschelli
The winner of The Next Iron Chef: Redemption, Alex Guarnaschelli became Food Network's first female Iron Chef in 2012, and she's gone on to be a fierce opponent in Kitchen Stadium. A frequent and revered Chopped judge, Alex is also a cookbook author and the executive chef at several New York City restaurants.
Heat 4: Bobby Deen
A judge on Food Network's Holiday Baking Championship and Spring Baking Championship, and the host of Cooking Channel's Not My Mama's Meals, Bobby is a New York Times best-selling author who grew up alongside his brother, Jamie, and their mother in a classic Southern kitchen. He and Jamie have launched a line of spices, barbecue sauces and T-shirts.
Heat 4: Sherry Yard
From New York City to Los Angeles, James Beard Award winner Sherry Yard has worked at some of the most-celebrated eateries and alongside some of the most-revered chefs, including Wolfgang Puck. She's the brains behind City Perch Kitchen + Bar, a concept restaurant in Bethesda, Md., that showcases the finest products of the Mid-Atlantic States.
