Bobby's Christmas Punch

Ingredients
1/2 cup brandy
1/2 cup amontillado sherry
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup simple syrup, or more to taste (see Cook's Note)
2 shots orange-flavored liqueur, such as Cointreau
2 shots ruby port
Lemon slices
Orange slices
One 750-ml bottle sparkling wine, well chilled
Orange-flavored club soda, well chilled, for topping off
Pomegranate seeds, for garnish
Directions
- Mix together the brandy, sherry, lemon juice, simple syrup, liqueur, port and some lemon and orange slices in a festive pitcher. Cover and chill for at least 1 hour and up to 24 hours. Right before serving, add the sparkling wine.
- To serve, fill ice-filled festive holiday glasses three-quarters full with punch, then top off with club soda. Garnish with some of the soaked lemons and a few pomegranate seeds.
Cook’s Note
To make simple syrup, boil equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan until the sugar is dissolved. Let cool completely before using.
