French Onion and Leek Dip

French onion dip is famous for a reason, but you won't believe how amazing it tastes with the simple addition of caramelized leeks.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

3 leeks (about 1 1/4 pounds), cleaned and thinly sliced (white and light green parts only)

Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

One 16-ounce carton sour cream

One 1-ounce packet onion soup mix

Potato chips, for serving

Carrot and celery sticks, for serving

Directions

  1. Melt the butter together with the oil in a large skillet. Add the leeks and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cook on medium-low heat until tender and caramelized, about 20 minutes.
  2. Stir together the sour cream, onion soup mix and caramelized leeks in a bowl. Serve immediately, or cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. Serve with potato chips, carrot sticks and celery sticks.
