Mocha Dalgona

A dalgona coffee is whipped coffee served on top of milk. It is a huge hit on social media. Ree is taking things to the next level by adding a chocolate vibe with cocoa.

Ingredients

1 heaping tablespoon cocoa powder (natural, not Dutch process)

1 heaping tablespoon instant espresso powder

1 heaping tablespoon turbinado sugar, such as Sugar in the Raw

1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste

1/2 cup ice, plus more for serving

4 ounces whole milk

Directions

  1. To a food processor fitted with the blade attachment, add the cocoa powder, espresso powder, sugar, vanilla bean paste, ice and 1 tablespoon water. Process, scraping the sides of the processor as needed, until the mixture has lightened in color and become fluffy in texture, 2 to 3 minutes.
  2. Fill an 8-ounce glass mug with ice. Add the milk, then mound the coffee mixture on top. Drink immediately.
