Spice Girl

Ingredients

For the Syrup:

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup water

1 cup cranberries

1 tablespoon allspice berries

2 cinnamon sticks

Peel from 1 orange

For the Drink:

6 ounces ginger beer

Cranberries, for garnish

Directions

  1. Make the syrup: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the sugar, water, cranberries, allspice, cinnamon sticks and orange peel and bring to a low boil. Once boiling, turn down the heat and let simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from the heat and let cool.
  2. Using a strainer, strain the mixture into a resealable container. Use a spoon to press the juice out of the cranberries and then discard the solids. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  3. Make the drink: In a highball glass filled with ice, add the ginger beer and 1 ounce cranberry syrup. Stir to combine and garnish with cranberries.
