So, Fireball Whisky Bagels Exist

A boundary-pushing New Jersey shop has created a bagel flavored with Fireball Cinnamon Whisky.

For many of us, bagels are a comfort food, the stuff of cozy Sunday brunches with family and friends. The thought of them may evoke warm feelings. Warm — but not usually flaming hot.

A boundary-pushing bagel outlet in Freehold, New Jersey, the Bagel Nook, has created a bagel flavored with Fireball Cinnamon Whisky, the “red hot” 66-proof liquor that employs a fire-breathing dragon as its mascot and “Tastes Like Heaven, Burns Like Hell” as its catchphrase (and is, I gather, beloved by frats).

The bagels feature the cinnamon-flavored whisky in the dough itself and are also dunked into a glaze made from flambéed Fireball. The Bagel Nook then completes the possibly questionable culinary experience by dusting it all with cinnamon sugar, slicing and schmearing the bagel with apple-pie-flavored cream cheese.

The flambé factor reduces the alcohol content — so while they’re good for heat seekers, these probably won’t get you completely sauced at breakfast. On the other hand, they’re marked “21 and over” in the photos the Bagel Nook has posted on Instagram — and you reportedly need ID to order them — so it’s a good bet they’re not totally alcohol-free.

The bagels are hot on social media, where people who say they have tried them claim to have found them “amazing.”

Then again, the Bagel Nook’s clientele is presumably a highly adventurous set: The shop’s other options include Oreo Overload Bagels, rainbow-sprinkle covered Vanilla Glazed Bagels, and such cereal-inspired phenomena as “a fruity pebbles bagel with birthday cake cream cheese and fresh strawberries” and “Pumpkin Cream Cheese Cinnamon Toast Crunch With Pumpkin Cream Cheese.”

Clearly someone at the Nook has a finger squarely on the pulse of Snapchat-happy millennials everywhere. (Yeah, they ship nationwide.)
