Thanksgiving dinners may not be the large family feasts we are used to this year. With limits on gatherings or outdoors encouraged, people are looking for unique ways to celebrate the holiday. This year, that may involve skipping the hours cooking a large turkey and whipping up sides for a smaller crowd. Luckily so many restaurants across the country are willing to take over that job for carryout, adding their own creative twist to the traditional meal.

Marsh House, Nashville

Celebrate Thanksgiving with a Creole twist from this Nashville, Gulf Coast-inspired spot. Carry out a four-course meal filled with traditional offerings like cornbread dressing and a heritage breed turkey, paired with seafood gumbo, duck poppers and more. Save room for dessert giving a nod to the classic apple pie, their version of an apple cake with cheddar streusel and apple pie gelato.

Delbar, Atlanta

Trade in turkey for a shawarma spiced leg of lamb at this Atlanta Middle Eastern restaurant. With enough food for up to ten, the savory meat comes with traditional Middle Eastern sides – taftoun bread, pickled vegetables, herbed rice with zhough, dill labneh and a sabzi plate of mint, tarragon, feta, radish and walnuts. Orders will require 48 hours notice and can be placed over the phone.

Alinea, Chicago

If you ever wondered what it would be like if one of the best chefs in the world cooked you Thanksgiving dinner, now is your chance. Alinea is offering an amped up traditional meal with a free-range turkey plus appetizers like shrimp cocktail with horseradish sauce and butternut squash soup with pumpernickel croutons and date mousse. Sides like cranberry and orange compote and roasted garlic and sage stuffing. Finish the meal with the classic dessert: pumpkin pie with whipped cream.

Flour Bakery, Boston

Get all of your Thanksgiving pie selections in one bite with their Piefecta pie – pecan pie on the bottom, pumpkin pie in the middle and brown sugar whipped cream on top. You can also get your trimmings and sides here – fennel sausage stuffing with dried apricots, olives and roasted fennel; sumac roasted cauliflower, rainbow carrots, sesame seeds and green onion and buttery pull-apart rolls with rosemary, thyme and herbed butter. Plus, start the next morning right with pumpkin spice bread or maple pecan cranberry teacake.

Ariete, Miami

Cook a Cuban-inspired Thanksgiving dinner, pulled together by this Miami hot spot with a meal kit that starts with a cheese ball with candied walnuts and pecans; and heirloom tomato and Bibb lettuce salad. It includes a turkey with croqueta stuffing and gravy, pastelitos filled with turkey fricassee; whipped mashed potatoes; green bean casserole; cranberry jelly; parker House rolls with whipped honey butter; cornbread stuffing; and finishes off with pumpkin pie. Don’t worry, it also comes with full instructions.

Xiquet by Danny Lledo, Washington D.C.

Satisfy your sweet tooth with apple streusel, pumpkin or chocolate pies.
