Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup good quality popcorn
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt or popcorn salt
  • Sprinkle jalapeno seasoning mix
  • Paper lunch bag
  • Stapler

Directions

Toss the popcorn with the olive oil, salt, and jalapeno seasoning mix in the paper bag. Fold the top of the bag over and staple the bag twice to close. Place the bag in the microwave and microwave on high for 2 minutes to 3 minutes, or until there are about 5 seconds between pops.

NOTE: Popcorn salt is a super-fine salt that is designed especially for sticking to food such as popcorn. It has the taste of regular table salt, but its granules are much finer.

this is a great way to make microwave popcorn w/o all the chemicals being used today by todays companies. There one reviewer... who had all kind of problems. I have no idea what kind of popcorn he was using or what he was doing but this works great. Just about every kernel popped for me. Read more

I find instead of stapling the bag closed use a couple of the all wood clothespin. The kind you use to make clothespin dolls.... you can find them in the laundry aisle in your local store. Read more

Freaking easy and just as good as micro-corn

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I decided to give ConAgra a break and bought some other (red) corn. I used this method (no staples and no jalepeno) and it... came out perfect. Instead of popcorn salt, I used some Lawry salt. How easy is that? One note, the oil leaks a bit in the bag so put it on a plate when you prepare and microwave it. It gets hot so I used some tongs to hold and pour the contents out. Even with the more boutique corn I bought, I think this is a much more economical and healthier choice for a snack. So glad I didn't waste my money on a popper of some sort. Read more

    Better than the movies's popcorn!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
My husband and I made this, it was quick and easy! Very tasty, fun recipe for a kid to make and so much healthier than... prepackaged bags. I didn't have a lunch size brown bag around so we used a long brown bag we got at the grocery store for a wine bottle. Thanks Alton for making homemade popcorn so much easier!Read more
