Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups blackberries
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 8 tablespoons (1 stick) plus 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream, whipped, sweetened

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Into a buttered shallow baking dish place blackberries. Sprinkle with 1/3 cup sugar.

In the bowl of a food processor combine flour baking powder and salt. Add butter and pulse to create lumpy mixture. Add cream and pulse until dough forms. Dough will be soft. Spoon dough over blackberries.

Melt remaining 2 tablespoons butter and drizzle over mounds of dough. Sprinkle with remaining 1/3 cup sugar.

Bake about 30 to 40 minutes or until dough and fruit are cooked through and dough is lightly browned.

Serve with whipped sweetened cream.

    AMAZING!!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
My kids and I went to pick blackberries today and came home to find this recipe online. Wow!... Is all I can say! My kids... helped which was sooooooo easy to do with this recipe and it turned out great! Because my kids helped out, the ingredients weren't exact by any means and it still turned out perfectly! We used nonfat milk instead of heavy cream and we also threw in a couple of handfuls of oatmeal into the dough mix and we used Smart Butter instead of the butter the recipe asked for and it still came out great! I was a bit worried that we had created a terrible mess but it was such a special yummy dessert that they both asked for seconds!Read more

    Recipe Poorly Written

Rated: 1 stars out of 5
Recipe calls for 1/2 cup of heavy cream, whipped and sweetend. In the body of the recipe for the topping, it says to add... cream. At the end of the recipe, it says to serve with sweet whipped cream. It would appear that the same cream is used TWICE. It is however unreasonable to expect that you should whip and sweeten the cream that goes into the dough. With just the whipped cream, the dough was not wet. It was way too dry in my opinion. With respect to using two thirds cup of sugar, man was that too sweet also. This will not be a recipe I would ever make again - as it is written. Jim in So. Calif.Read more

I've made this recipce twice over the last two days and everyone at both parties really enjoyed it. And is was so very easy... to make. I used 5 cups of berries covered with 2/3 cup sugar and added some cinnamon on top of the dough recipe as printed with the melted butter and 1/3 cup sugar. Yum.Read more

    Perfect!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
This is what cobbler should taste like and it isn't supposed to be hard to make. Just make sure you aren't dumb enough to... make it during the winter, when blackberry prices are ridiculous. Great summer treat! Especially with vanilla ice cream instead of whipped cream.Read more
