These are so colorful and festive looking it makes you feel like it's a party when you look at an assortment of them. And they couldn't be easier to make, even your kids could do it. You can use white chocolate too, for a more wintry or icy look.

Ingredients

Directions

Dipping decorations: granola, chopped nuts, sprinkles, jimmies, crushed cookies, and toasted coconut

Line a sheet pan with waxed paper. Cut 1-inch off the end of each banana. Insert a popsicle stick into the cut-end of each banana, pushing the stick halfway in, leaving the other end exposed for use as a handle. Place the bananas on the sheet pan and freeze 1 hour.

Melt the chocolate and butter in a bowl over a saucepan of simmering water, stirring occasionally.

Arrange the dipping decorations on several flat plates. Working with 1 banana at a time, dip it in the chocolate and turn to completely coat (spoon some on, if needed). Roll the dipped banana in the desired decorations, transfer to the sheet pan, and return to the freezer.

Once frozen, store the bananas in an airtight container.

Serving suggestion: To serve at a kid's party, paint a hunk of styrofoam and stick the banana handles in the top, so they stand upright.

Made these for the Arrested Development premier tomorrow!
After reading some reviews, I altered this a little. I used Almond Bark rather than choco chips and to make it runnier, add a little vegetable oil after melted. I use this method for Oreo Balls and it works great. Melt in microwave. I didn't quite cut the bananas in half and I cut the bottom pieces in 1" and topped them with chocolate. Haven't tasted them yet, but they look amazing.

Awful recipe. It's a good start, but there is far, far more chocolate than you will ever need for 8 bananas. If you are making 5 bunches worth of bananas, feel free to use all of it, but it's a better bet to just use a smaller pan or bowl with less chocolate. Also, the chocolate does NOT thin down enough to make it dippable as written. Basically, while it has all of the ingredients that you need within the recipe, you will have to completely alter the proportions in order to make it work. I would advise finding a good recipe for making melted chocolate and then just use that with bananas. It will work much better.

Great! A tip for melting chocolate: instead of melting chocolate in a double-boiler, just put it in a microwave-safe bowl with a little butter and/or cream or milk, nuke it on high for 1 minute, stir, nuke for another 15-30 seconds, stir. If still really chunky then nuke it for another 15-20 seconds. If only small chunks, just keep stirring until it melts in and you will have beautiful melted chocolate! Way easier and much faster and this way you don't scorch the chocolate and wont get gloppy. Happy eating!
