Directions
Remove wide strips of zest from 2 lemons with a vegetable peeler (do not remove the pith). Make 2 cups simple syrup (recipe below), adding the lemon zest before heating. Let cool, then pour into an ice-filled pitcher. Stir in 1/2 teaspoon salt, 2 cups each fresh lemon juice and water, and some lemon slices.

It helps to have a citrus juicer for this puppy. It is really, really good, and pretty easy. My only complaint is that the simple syrup makes it a little too sweet. I prefer lemonade on the more tart side, so I cut down on the sugar, and occasionally add some dried lavender or a squeeze of some other citrus fruit (tangerines are a great addition.

Best lemonade I've ever had! A big hit with everyone. Takes about an hour to make as it took approximately 11 large lemons for me to get 2 cups of lemon juice....BUT it was well worth the time and labor.

This is the best lemonade I've ever had. It's a great balance between tart and sweet with a nice sharpness to it. I strained out the lemon zest before mixing the simple syrup with the juice and water, but otherwise followed the recipe exactly. It was a huge hit with everyone. I will definitely make it again.
