Ingredients
Sour Cream Cilantro Sauce:
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 small bunch fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Philly-Rito!:
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 yellow onion, diced
- 2 pounds sirloin, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 8 ounces shredded mozzarella
- 8 slices American cheese
- 1/2 jar roasted red peppers, drained, julienned
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 4 (12-inch) flour tortillas
- 1 avocado, mashed
- For the sauce: Mix the ingredients until well combined.
Directions
For the Philly-Rito!: In a saute pan over medium-high heat, add the oil and onions. Cook until the onions are translucent, about 10 minutes. Add the sirloin and garlic powder and saute another 3 minutes. Fold in the cheeses to melt. Add the roasted red peppers and season with salt and pepper. Turn off the heat and set aside.
In a dry skillet, warm the tortillas 1 at a time. Hold warm under a towel. To form the Philly-Rito!, spread a spoonful of the avocado onto a tortilla, top with a quarter of the meat and roll it up like a burrito. Serve with the sour cream sauce.

This wasn't near as wonderful as I was hoping. I suspect one of the reasons could be the instructions don't match what I remember from the show, nor what I see in the picture above. The meat is totally lost in the melted cheeses. The picture doesn't show melted cheese but rather shows it added to the sandwich separate. If I make this again, I will try it that way. My husband did love the cilantro sauce and I loved the bite of avocado in the sandwich, but overall we were disappointed,

I was disappointed. It was very very rich and the American cheese just made the whole thing have that processed flavor that I would expect out of fast food and not a fresh home meal. Based on the previous reviews I even used a lot less cheese.

Made this tonight, hubby loved it. I did not use as much cheese as suggested and I also substituted sharp cheddar for the american.cheese. I also added jalapeno slices for some heat..
Good job Vic, this is a keeper.
