Ingredients

  • 1 (12-ounce) bag semisweet chocolate morsels
  • 9 ounces (3/4 of a 12-ounce bag) butterscotch morsels
  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (8-ounce) can walnut halves
  • 1/2 cup (a couple of handfuls) currants
  • 8-inch cake pan, lightly greased with softened butter
  • Candied cherries, red and green, for garnish, optional

Directions

Place a heavy pot on the stove and preheat it over low heat. Add chips and milk and stir until chips are melted and milk combined. Save the empty condensed milk can. Stir in vanilla and remove fudge from heat. Add nuts and currants and stir in immediately.

Cover empty condensed milk can with plastic food wrap and center it in the greased cake pan. Spoon fudge into pan around can, making sure to recenter can if it drifts.

The fudge will set up almost immediately. Garnish can only be added in the first minute or 2 the fudge is in the pan, so work quickly. Decorate your wreath with "holly" made from cut candied red and green cherries. A wreath left plain can be garnished with a pretty fabric bow when serving. Chill covered in the refrigerator and slice fudge very thin when ready to serve, a little goes a long way.

    Good Fudge When Modified

Rated: 3 stars out of 5
Easy recipe, but not a lot of flavor. Try these modifications: Add 2 tbs butter when melted chips. Use half peanut... butter/half milk chocolate chips instead of the chips in the recipe. (Or all milk chocolate if you do not like peanut butter flavor). Use pecans instead of walnuts. Decorations look better with candy. Try using gelly leaves (found at CVS in candy aisle); cut them down the center so you can use both halves. using red m&ms for the berries using string licorice for a bow at the top of the wreath green sugar sprinkles all over Looks much more like a wreath! :)Read more

Just as good as "real" fudge!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I used to always take the time to make "real" fudge. Now with this recipe I can make a delicious, versatile fudge that... everyone loves! I made a double batch and put it in tins for the UPS guy, mail lady, the ladies at the Library, and the Speedy man, as a thank you for their service. My friends just love this as well! I ran out of vanilla in my third batch and used almond extract, and it gave it a new flavor! Still very good!! Thank you again Rachel! Oh, and it is very budget friendly!Read more

Only Request we got for Homemade food from Soldier in Iraq

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
Our son is stationed in Iraq and when asked what he wanted us to send us, the first and only thing he could think of was his... "sister's" fudge. This is the fudge she made for him last year when he was stationed in Hawaii. So we are making several this year and sending to Iraq. One for his very own and some to share with his Company. thank you Rachael for a great recipe!!!!Read more

    Need recipe clarification

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
What is the substitution for using white chips. Is it a 12 oz bag plus 1 cup?

    Great Christmas presents

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I made this recipe and liked it but my boys wanted a plain fudge. I subsituted the butterscotch chips with peanut butter and... just added nuts. It turned out wonderful. I also make this with toffee chips sometimes also. I make different varieties of this fudge for extra Christmas presents.Read more
