Ingredients

Tuna Salad:

  • 3 cups good quality canned tuna (packed in water), drained
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 4 cornichons, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh tarragon leaves
  • 2 tablespoons freshly chopped parsley leaves
  • 2 tablespoons capers, drained
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil, or to taste
  • 2 everything bagels, sliced and toasted
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced crescents
  • 1 vine-ripened tomato, sliced
  • 1 seedless cucumber, sliced
  • 4 Bibb lettuce leaves

Directions

Begin with the tuna salad. Combine ingredients in a large mixing bowl and stir to combine. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.

Take cut bagels and toast under a hot broiler until golden brown. While still hot smear the bottom with the cream cheese immediately. Top with a scoop of the tuna salad and then layer with red onion, tomato, cucumber and lettuce. Add the top half of the bagel and serve.

    Quality Tuna is a MUST

Be sure to use only solid tuna in water. Delicious, flaky, and refreshing when made correctly! We mistakenly used chunk... tuna -- bad idea. It was a watery, tasteless mess. Read more

once I gathered all the ingredients together. Couldn't find taragon or those special pickles so I did without, and it still... turned out really great! I did add a bit too much olive oil, but other than that you must try this recipe...thanks Tyler!!Read more

    fresh, clean taste

I made this twice, once as a lettuce wrap and another time with a green onion/sun dried wheat tortilla and both presentations... were excellent. The only changes that I made to the tuna recipe were to mince the red onion and mix it in and to use Mexican mint marigold instead of the tarragon. (The flavors of the two herbs are very similar.) This is definitely a fabulous recipe.Read more

    Fast and good...

...just what a sandwich (or something close to it!) should be. The cream cheese is a particularly nice touch, just makes it... richer. I opted for a touch more mayo, though, and you can use a low amount of olive oil.Read more

Tried this last weekend and was disappointed. I used Lite Mayo, but as much as the fresh herbs and the everything bagetl... added flavor, this was not one of my favorites. Sorry Tyler.Read more

    Tuna kicked up a notch!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I saw Tyler prepare this recipe yesterday and could not wait to make them. My husband is a big tuna fish sandwich lover and... he could not stop telling me how good these were. I didn't have bagels, so I used an english muffin and the sandwichs were great. Thanks Tyler for a great new way to kick up an all time favorite tuna sandwich!!!!!!!!Read more
