Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 medium onion, finely diced

1 tablespoon minced garlic

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper

1 tablespoon salt

1 jalapeno, finely diced

1/2 cup bread crumbs

1/2 cup beef broth

1 beaten egg

1 teaspoon curry powder

1 tablespoon water

2 packages premade pie crust

Special equipment: 3-inch cookie cutter

Directions

 1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
 2. Brown the ground beef in a large saute pan over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, paprika, thyme, black pepper, and salt. Stir together, and then add the jalapeno. Remove from the heat, and add the bread crumbs and the beef broth. Stir well to combine and set aside to cool completely.
 3. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, curry powder and water. Set aside.
 4. On a work surface, flatten the pie crusts and cut out 3-inch rounds using a cookie cutter.
 5. Add a hearty tablespoon of the beef mixture onto each round. Fold over and press the edges with your fingers. Crimp the edges with a fork. Transfer the patties to a baking sheet and brush the tops with the egg mixture. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
 6. Arrange on a serving platter and serve.

I absolutely love beef patties and wanted to love this recipe so much. Hate to say it, I'm not a fan. I get everyone has different taste buds but this didn't really have any flavor for me and I didn't find it spicy either. Which the spicy is not really a problem the flavor itself though, tasted absolutely nothing like authentic beef patties to me. Also, I specifically ordered a 3in cutter as that is what the recipe said and that was extremely small, didn't end up using it instead used a large coffee mug that was maybe 4.5 - 5 in diameter and still thought those came out fairly small. More so like small empanads rather than jamaican beef patties.

For those that love this recipe, I'm happy it works for you. I do appreciate the post and sharing the opportunity for me to try it out.
