Ingredients
1 brioche or kaiser roll
1/2 ounce melted butter
1/2 ounce Kummelweck Seasoning, recipe follows
3 ounces thin sliced roast beef
4 ounces beef au jus, warmed (see Cook’s Note)
1/2 ounce prepared horseradish
Kummelweck Seasoning:
1 ounce coarse sea salt
1/2 ounce caraway seeds
Directions
- Place an oven rack in the center of the oven and preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
- Brush your roll with the melted butter and sprinkle generously with the kummelweck seasoning. Place the roll on the center rack of the oven and bake until the roll is slightly toasted, 2 minutes. Meanwhile, place the sliced roast beef into the warm beef au jus and let warm for 1 to 2 minutes. Place the roast beef inside the toasted weck bun. Serve with side of the warm au jus and horseradish.
Kummelweck Seasoning:
- Combine the coarse sea salt and caraway seeds in a small bowl.
Cook’s Note
Bone broth or beef stock can be used as au jus.
