Blackberry Winter

Ingredients

Sour Mix:

1 cup strained freshly squeezed lemon juice

1 cup strained freshly squeezed lime juice

8 ounces sugar

1 cup hot water

Blackberry Puree:

3 pints blackberries

5 ounces sugar (about 3/4 cup)

Cocktail:

1 1/4 ounces 100-proof bourbon, such as Knob Creek

Directions

  1. For the sour mix: Add the lemon juice, lime juice, sugar and water to a pitcher and stir. Let cool before using.
  2. For the blackberry puree: Puree the blackberries and sugar with 1 cup water in a blender until smooth.
  3. For the cocktail: Put the bourbon in a cocktail shaker with ice, add 2 ounces of the sour mix and 1 ounce of the blackberry puree and shake vigorously. Strain into a rocks glass with ice.
