Blackened Spiced Butter

Ingredients

1 pound butter, half melted, half at room temperature

1/4 cup blackening spice, recipe follows

3 cloves garlic, minced

Blackening Spice:

1 1/2 cups paprika

1/2 cup onion powder 

1/2 cup salt 

1/4 cup ground thyme 

6 tablespoons ground oregano 

5 tablespoons garlic powder 

2 tablespoons cayenne pepper 

1 1/2 tablespoons black pepper 

Directions

  1. Blend the melted butter with the blackening spice and garlic. Mix this with the softened butter and whisk thoroughly until smooth. Spread into a 13-by-9-inch pan and freeze for 2 hours. Cut into 8-by-12-inch cubes.

Blackening Spice:

  1. Mix paprika, onion powder, salt, thyme, oregano, garlic powder, cayenne and black pepper in a bowl. Store in an airtight container.
