Brazilian Limeade

Ingredients

6 cups cold water

4 limes, washed and quartered 

1/2 to 3/4 cup sweetened condensed milk 

Directions

  1. Combine the water and limes in a blender, in batches if necessary, and blend until totally smooth, about 2 minutes. Strain the lime mixture through a sieve and press on the solids until only the pulp remains.
  2. Pour the liquid into a pitcher and add the sweetened condensed milk to taste. Cover and refrigerate until cold. Serve in glasses over ice.

This was a great recipe! I have visited friends in Brasilia and Cuiaba several times and that’s how they made their limemade too. I don’t know how other reviews are claiming the lime curdles this sweetened condensed milk. Have made it this way dozens of times and curdling was never an issue. Probably because SCM is cooked down milk and has way less protein and more sugars than regular milk. You shouldn’t blend until smooth though, this releases too much of the lime oil from the peel and will make it very bitter. Just blend until the chunks are smaller. Muito bom!
