Ingredients
8 cups rice cereal squares (such as Chex)
1 3.5-ounce package rice crackers, broken into bite-size pieces (about 3 cups)
2 cups crispy chow mein noodles
2 cups roasted edamame
1 cup unsalted roasted peanuts
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
1/8 teaspoon chili oil
1 1/2 teaspoons Chinese five-spice powder
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 cups sesame sticks (or broken sesame breadsticks)
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F. Mix the cereal, crackers, noodles, edamame and peanuts in a large bowl. (If you're using breadsticks instead of sesame sticks, add them at this point.)
- Microwave the butter in a medium microwave-safe bowl until melted. Stir in the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, sesame oil, chili oil, five-spice powder and garlic powder.
- Spread the cereal mixture on 2 baking sheets. Drizzle with the butter mixture and mix well with your hands.
- Bake 1 hour, tossing every 15 minutes and rotating the pans halfway through; stir in the sesame sticks in the last 15 minutes of baking. The party mix is ready once everything is crispy and all the butter has been absorbed.
