BBQ Spiced Nuts

Ingredients

1 large egg white

2 to 3 tablespoons Eddie's BBQ Rub (recipe follows)

2 to 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup

1 cup roasted unsalted almonds

1 cup roasted unsalted cashews

Sugar, for sprinkling

Eddie's BBQ Rub

1/4 cup packed light brown sugar

1/4 cup smoked paprika

3 tablespoons kosher salt

 2 tablespoons white pepper

2 teaspoons garlic powder 

2 teaspoons onion powder 

1 teaspoon celery seeds 

1 teaspoon mustard powder 

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with foil. Whisk the egg white in a medium bowl until foamy. Stir in the spice rub and maple syrup. Add the almonds and cashews and toss to coat.
  2. Spread the nut mixture on the prepared baking sheet and sprinkle with a little sugar. Roast until golden brown, stirring halfway through, 30 to 35 minutes. Let cool 15 to 30 minutes. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.

Needed some zing. I agree with the person who said it needed some cayenne. Maybe 1/8 or 1/16 teas.? I don’t like spicy hot things, but these definitely needed something to add some zing.
