Directions

  1. Make Classic Shortbread dough with just 1 cup flour. Add 1 cup ground oats and 3/4 cup finely ground walnuts with the flour. Divide between two 8-inch square pans, score and bake about 1 hour at 300 degrees. Cool and slice; drizzle with melted bittersweet chocolate.

I ended up with a sandy dry texture. Too crumbly to give to others. I ground my walnuts in my food processor and was concerned that they might not be fine enough. I have since found a hint suggesting using a Tablespoon of sugar or flour from the recipe when grinding the nuts to finely grind them without making a paste. I'll try that next time.
