Ingredients
2 (4-inch) whole-wheat pita breads
2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 large garlic clove, peeled and halved
4 teaspoons grated Parmesan
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
Directions
- Position rack about 6 inches from the broiler and preheat broiler. With a small knife, cut a slit about 2 inches long in the side of both pitas. With your fingers, pry apart the 2 pita halves. If the pita is being stubborn, microwave it for about 30 seconds to soften it up. Lightly brush the rough side of the 4 pita halves with olive oil and then rub with the garlic clove. Cut each pita into quarters. Arrange the pitas in a single layer on a cookie sheet. Evenly sprinkle the pitas with the Parmesan, salt, paprika, and oregano. Place under the broiler and broil for 2 to 3 minutes or until golden brown.
