Ginger Mint Julep

Ingredients
4 sugar cubes
1/4 cup fresh mint leaves, plus mint sprigs, for garnish
One 1/2-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
1/3 cup ginger-flavored bourbon, such as Virgil Kaine
Crushed ice
Candied ginger, for garnish
Directions
Special equipment:
a muddler- In each of two julep cups or rocks glasses, muddle 2 sugar cubes with half of the mint leaves and the fresh ginger. Divide the bourbon evenly between the two glasses and top with the crushed ice.
- Stir until thoroughly chilled. Garnish with the mint sprigs and candied ginger before serving.
