Ingredients
8 slices country white sandwich bread
4 to 6 tablespoons Dijon mustard
8 slices Gruyère
1/2 pound Parisian or tavern-style ham, shaved
4 to 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
4 pinches flaky sea salt
Directions
- Lay out 4 slices of bread and schmear half with mustard from crust to crust. Top each with 2 slices of Gruyère. Arrange the ham in ribbons on top of the cheese.
- On the remaining 4 slices of bread, schmear the butter from crust to crust and sprinkle with salt. Close the sandwiches, cut off the crusts and slice into rectangles. Serve.
