Sazerac Cocktail

Created in New Orleans and considered one of the oldest cocktails in the US, this one's got it all—deep mellow flavor and dry sweetness. Perfectly balanced but not for the faint of heart!

Ingredients

3 sugar cubes

9 dashes bitters, such as Peychaud’s

3 ounces cognac

3 ounces rye whiskey

3 ounces anise liqueur, such as Pernod

Lemon peel, for garnish

Directions

  1. To a cocktail shaker, add the sugar cubes, then the bitters. Muddle to dissolve the sugar, then add ice and the cognac and rye whiskey. Mix to chill and combine. Add the anise liqueur to 3 chilled coupe glasses and swirl around to coat the glass. Discard the anise liqueur or save it for another use. Strain the cocktail mixture into the glasses. Garnish each glass with a lemon peel. Enjoy!
