Miss Gladys' Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients

4 sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch slices

1 cup sugar 

1/4 stick butter (2 tablespoons) 

1 teaspoon nutmeg 

Pinch salt

Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan set over medium heat, add the potatoes, sugar, butter and nutmeg, and cover, allowing the butter to melt and the potatoes to release some of their water, about 10 minutes. Add the salt and stir. Cover and cook for 35 to 40 minutes, stirring occasionally and breaking up the potatoes with a wooden spoon. Serve hot.
