Ingredients

Oil, for sauteing

2 onions, chopped

2 ribs celery, chopped

1 apple, chopped

2/3 loaf white bread, toasted and broken into pieces

2 eggs

1 1/2 cups milk

1 teaspoon dried sage

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon pepper

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a medium-sized saute pan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the onion, celery, and apple and saute until just tender. Remove from the heat and add the onion mixture to the bread in a large mixing bowl. In a medium mixing bowl, beat the eggs with the milk, sage, salt, and pepper. Pour over the bread mixture and stir to combine and moisten the bread. Transfer to a casserole dish and bake for about 1 hour or until browned on top. Serve.

It’s in the oven now. My first time to make dressing without corn bread and turkey broth and I’m 78 yrs old! 😊 Anxious to see how it turns out. Gave it 5 stars based on what the other reviewers said.
