Dark Chocolate Espresso Sundae

This dessert is based on the Italian affogato, where espresso coffee is poured over ice cream. Here, Ree has given the recipe a delicious twist, using chocolate.

Ingredients

4 ounces quality dark chocolate

5 ounces espresso or strong coffee, very hot

3 large scoops vanilla bean gelato

1 tablespoon chocolate covered espresso beans, for garnish

2 biscotti

Directions

  1. Add the chocolate to a heatproof bowl. Pour over the hot espresso and let sit for 1 minute. Stir until completely smooth.
  2. Scoop the gelato into bowls, pour over the espresso ganache and top with the chocolate covered espresso beans. Add the biscotti and enjoy.

Cook’s Note

The espresso chocolate sauce can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
