When my husband was asked to do the show with Bobby Flay, we were told to cook the entire Santa Maria Style BBQ. We do the beans the way our friends and family like them, We never told anyone on the show they were Santa Maria Style. We have lived here in Santa Maria for 50 plus years and are well aware of what Santa Maria Styles Beans are. Even our BBQ is not considered Santa Maria Style, because we use mainly Tri-Tip. We like to think the Red Oak wood is what gives it the Santa Maria Flavor. I hope you are all well aware that the Santa Maria Style BBQhas a patent on it dating back to the 1970's. So we do not call our BBQ "Style" we call it "flavor". At any rate these are excellent beans, try them, you may find something different.
