Just made this tonight and I followed some of the other reviewers' suggestions. I omitted the capers and onion, and added garlic (I love garlic, even raw) I am out of balsamic, so I used red wine vinegar, as suggested. I brushed the bread with olive oil and grilled it on a gas grill then turned it over and added the topping and let it cook on the grill. It was DELICIOUS. I made it for my parents and they both raved and raved about it. This will definitely be in my rotation when I'm using up all of my summer tomatoes!
