Tim Hortons Brings the World Buffalo Sauce Lattes
Sometimes it's best not to ask why.
Sometimes it’s best not to ask why. This may be one of those instances: Tim Hortons, the Canadian-born fast-food chain, is introducing an upstate-New York-specific new coffee drink. Hello, Buffalo Lattes.
The beverage is so named for two reasons. 1. It’s being offered only in two locations in Buffalo, New York. And 2. It will feature the bold, spicy, totally tangy flavor of Buffalo sauce, which was invented right there in New York State’s second most-populous city (after NYC, of course).
But still. Buffalo sauce in coffee? Actually, the “bold Buffalo sauce flavor” has been added to espresso, steamed milk and mocha, and the resulting latte is finished off with “whipped topping and a dusting of zesty Buffalo seasoning.”
The coffee curiosity is being introduced as part of a new line of Tim Hortons espresso drinks. It will be available for $2.79 “while supplies last” at the Tim Hortons locales at 4849 Transit Road in Depew, New York, and 3470 Main St in Buffalo, New York. Calling ahead to confirm availability is recommended.
Stephen Goldstein, the regional president of Tim Hortons U.S. described the drink in a release as an “unlikely pairing of sweet mocha and tangy Buffalo sauce” that “come together to create an unexpectedly delicious sweet and spicy treat.”
“Tim Hortons and Buffalo sauce were both born in 1964, so why not take these two Buffalo staples and combine them?” Goldstein said.
Sometimes it’s arguably best not to ask “why not,” either.
