October 15, 2020

It’s no secret that the pandemic has changed so many aspects of our lives. Countless businesses have been negatively impacted, but perhaps none more devastatingly than restaurants. With what seemed like only a few days’ notice, chefs around the country forfeited their usual dine-in services in favor of new takeout and delivery systems, all while managing the unprecedented safety concerns of their staff and customers. And they’re the lucky ones among them. Many other eateries shut their doors, either temporarily or for good, on account of the mounting risks and financial positions that plagued the industry, ultimately forcing once-booming hot spots to throw in the towel.

Our very own Maneet Chauhan, Antonia Lofaso, Christian Petroni and Marcus Samuelsson are among the chefs and restaurateurs who were faced with unimaginable challenges at their business during the height of the pandemic, and you’re about to see them all on the new documentary Restaurant Hustle 2020: All On The Line, co-directed and executive produced by Guy Fieri. Their eateries stretch from coast to coast in cities big and small, yet each person was faced with similar emotional roller coasters as they attempted to keep the lights on at their places. This will be a real, honest and raw look at not only the work these chefs did to transition their business models, but also their personal commitments to supporting local neighborhoods in the process.

“I’ve traveled coast to coast visiting thousands of restaurants across the country on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, and after all the time on the road, it’s clear that restaurants are the heart and soul of their communities,” said Guy. “When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the impact on the restaurant industry was immediate. Restaurant Hustle 2020: All On The Line provides a real and intimate first-hand look into the lives of four top restaurateurs navigate through it all.”

Restaurant Hustle 2020: All On The Line will have its world premiere at the virtual 2020 DOCNYC festival in November and will premiere nationally on Food Network on Sunday, Dec. 27 at 9|8c.
