I've been using this recipe for years. My kids have loved it for all these years. They request it all the time, especially when we have family movie nights. Yum, yum, yum!!! Thanks for another great one Emeril.

I recently bought sugared popcorn in the shops, liked it so much and wanted to try it myself (as the store-bought variety was quite pricey!.
I tried this recipe, but seem to have cooked the sugar syrup for too long. As soon as I started stirring the popcornand syrup together, the sugar fell off. I gathered up the sugar from the bottom of my bowl and put it straight back in the pot with another 3 spoons of water, cooked it again, this time for a shorter period, and voila, it worked! I also had the crystals, but that doesn't bother me. Will definitely make it again. The girls loved it because it was PINK and I like it cause if was so cheap!

I've been making this popcorn for years. The other reviewers who have commented that the sugar was gritty are not melting the sugar properly. When you melt sugar and it becomes gritty this means that your sugar is crystalizing. When melting sugar, make sure that the spoon you use is placed in a cup of water to wash off all sugar crystals which remain on spoon. Having said this, you should try to refrain from stirring the sugar. Without getting too technical, once the sugar crystals leave the pot and return again on a spoon or are washed back down from sides of pot, the sugar crystalizes; creating a a "resugarfied" crystalized consistency. Try again and you'll see that it'll work. This popcorn is great for movie nights with the kids. My children still ask for it when we have "family nights" watching movies.
