I served this dish for a Super Bowl party and was surprised that it vied with the more hearty, indulgent options. My teenage son couldn't get enough. Although I didn't get a chance to taste the dish, I appreciated the simplicity of preparation and the ability to add a more healthful option to the Super Bowl spread.

I am always trying to take recipes to a different level. With lox and cream cheese and bagel is to add a tomato and a slice of red onions to it. If I have, I add capers some of these too to add a little saltiness. Sometimes I toast the bagel. For this tartine, you can add the red onion, tomato and capers too if you like in some combinations.

I added prosciutto as well and also put cream cheese on the bread.

You can serve two very different varieties of the same appetizer with and without the cream cheese. It's amazing how different the tastes are.

It's so easy to prepare and very delicious!!!
