Whilst on a tropical vacation, I allow myself one mudslide a day – usually around 3 pm when I want something sweet and creamy, and the afternoon bucket of beers depletes. The rest of the crew usually makes fun of me, but once they spot the pool server saunter from the bar with a chocolate swirl-laden cup filled to the brim with what basically is a milkshake with a ton of booze, they apologize and order one themselves.
Mix together the crushed chocolate sandwich cookies and sea salt on a plate. Dip the rims of 2 glasses in some coffee liqueur or chocolate syrup and then rim each with the cookie and salt mixture. Drizzle the inside of the glass with chocolate syrup to taste. Set aside.
In a large shaker filled with a large ice cube, add in the vodka, heavy cream, coffee liqueur, Irish cream and the chocolate bitters. Shake quickly for about 5 seconds until well chilled yet not diluted.
Put 1 or 2 ice cubes into each prepared glass. Immediately strain the cocktail into the glasses. Top with chocolate shavings.
