Ingredients

  • Peanut oil, for frying
  • 1 cup beer
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt, plus more for seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper, plus more for seasoning
  • 1 pound green beans, ends trimmed

Directions

Preheat oil to 375 degrees F.

Whisk the beer, flour, salt and pepper until smooth.

Dip green beans into batter to coat, letting excess drip off. Fry in the peanut oil in batches, until they are golden and crisp. Remove from oil with a spider strainer to a paper towel lined sheet tray. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

They taste exactly like you'd expect. A green bean covered in fried batter. I wouldnt go out of my way to make them again.

    Tasty...but needs more batter.

All in all this recipe is pretty good. But, I felt that the better needed to be a little thicker. So I just made my batter... thicker and the rest is history. Yummy greenbeans!Read more

    Had problems with this receipe

Rated: 2 stars out of 5
It was easy enough to make the batter, but the green beans stuck to the bottom of the deep frier. They never came up to the... top when they were cooked. So most of the batter got stuck on the frier basket.Read more

    Greasy & Heavly

I love fried green beans but this was verly heavy and greasy. I think it may be better if a light breading is used. My... family normally loves your dishes but not this time. SorryRead more

Better Than TGIF's Fried Green Beans!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
We love the TGIF brand fried green beans we get at Sam's or Costco, but they are a little expensive. I got really excited... when the Neelys made these. The Neelys recipe is even better! I tried a few broccoli flowerets and they worked great! Next time I will try cauliflower! Use your imagination. I might even try shrimp!Read more
