Homemade granola is easier to make than you might think, and this version is loaded with colorful and festive ingredients such as dried cherries, sunflower seeds, pistachio and coconut. It makes for not just a healthful but delicious edible gift.

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups rolled oats

1 cup pistachios

1/2 cup sunflower seeds

1/2 cup unsweetened coconut flakes

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1/4 cup maple syrup

1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

3/4 cup dried cherries

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 275 degrees F. Combine the rolled oats, pistachios, sunflower seeds, coconut flakes, brown sugar, oil, maple syrup, cocoa powder and salt in a bowl; toss.
  2. Spread the oats mixture on a rimmed baking sheet. Bake, stirring occasionally, until toasted, about 1 hour. Let cool, then toss with the dried cherries.
