Sparkling Sangria

Ingredients

1 cup white grape juice

1/2 cup cognac

juice of 1 lemon

3 tablespoons superfine sugar

1 cup water

1 cup halved grapes

1 cup pitted cherries

1 sliced peach

sparkling wine

Directions

  1. Combine 1 cup white grape juice, 1/2 cup cognac, the juice of 1 lemon, 3 tablespoons superfine sugar and 1 cup water in a pitcher. Add 1 cup each halved grapes and pitted cherries, and 1 sliced peach. Chill 3 hours or overnight. Before serving, add a bottle of cold sparkling wine. Pour into flutes.

Made this for a 4th of July party, and everyone loved it. I put everything together except the sparkling wine (I used Prosecco), and let it sit in the fridge overnight. I added the chilled Prosecco just before serving, which meant I was doing nothing last minute. I loved that!
