1 ounce your favorite tequila

1 ounce triple sec

1 teaspoon honey

1/2 jalapeno, seeds removed, finely diced

Ice

1 slice fresh lime, for garnish

1 teaspoon salt, for rim

Directions

  1. Mix the lemon juice, tequila, triple sec, honey and diced jalapeno in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until very cold. Rub the lime slice around the rim of a glass and dip in salt to form a salt rim. Strain the drink into the glass.

Cook’s Note

If you can't find Meyer lemons, use regular lemons with a touch of fresh-squeezed orange juice.

We skipped the jalapeños and used Grand Marnier instead of Triple Sec. Totally awesome, with half the calories of a classic Jose Cuervo margarita. I have a hunch our Meyer lemon tree out back will be known as the Margarita Tree from now on ... :)
