Ingredients

2 1/2 cups self rising flour

1 1/2 tablespoons sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons onion, chopped and sauteed

2 tablespoons bacon, chopped

3 eggs

3/4 cup buttermilk

1/4 cup cheddar, grated

Directions

  1. Preheat the grill on a medium flame.
  2. Using a medium sized bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, onions, and bacon together. Let the mixture rise for about 30 minutes.
  3. Then add the eggs, buttermilk, and cheese. Continue mixing until a firm dough is formed. If the dough becomes a little watery, just add a little more flour.
  4. Place the dough on the counter and with sprinkle with flour. Then flatten it out with your hands. Using a circular cookie cutter, cut out 2-inch rounds.
  5. Line a small pan with parchment paper, and place the cut outs in the pan. Sprinkle desired amount of cheese on top and place the pan on a grill, lid closed, for 15 minutes.
  6. To plate, slice in half and spread with butter, or preferred topping.

Waht is going to rise? The first direction is to mix ingredients that should not cause anything to rise? Maybe I am missing something?
